Bruce Johnson (1926 - 1996)
Bruce Johnson was a self-tought artist. His illustrations have been published in most major Canadian publications as well as USA and abroad. He has exhibited with and received awards from The Montreal Arts Directors Club, The Toronto Arts Directors Club and The New York Annual International Illustrators Exhibition.
He also illustrated with The Ontario Society of Artists, The Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, and The Royal Canadian Academy.
Published weekly, The Montreal Star, 1966-1979, two hundred and fifty of these drawings published in book form entitled: "Montreal Souveniers", critical acclaimed.
One man show, Shayne Gallery, 1980; Thomas Gallery, 1984; Civic Center Etobicoke, 1995.
Paintings in corporate head offices: Hudson's Bay, Bank of Montreal, Molson's, Scott Paper, Texaco Canada, plus many private collections.
Bruce Johnson final years were lived out in Port Hope, Ontario.
